From Wind and Solar Power to Hydro, from eggs to chickens, we invite you to discover how important Agriculture is in our lives.

 

MOTHERWELL

Only one hour East of Regina, Motherwell Homestead is among the best kept pioneer farms in Canada. This Canadian Heritage Site is visited by thousands of agriculture and pioneer day enthusiasts. Go back in time and experience what homesteader and politician, W. R. Motherwell cherished as costumed guides show you through the Motherwell's gracious stone house and around the grounds of the 1912 homestead. Restored barn, farm equipment and farm animals complete the living history experience. Following the site tour, we will invite you to relax and enjoy a Victorian style tea with a proper lesson from one of the staff. As you will find, etiquette is quintessential when enjoying tea. Lunch will also be offered at Motherwell.

 

LUMSDEN

Nestled in the glacier-sculpted Qu’Appelle Valley, the town of Lumsden is your biological food garden paradise. More fruit & veggies than you can fit on your plate, this place is sure to make you “think green”. Feeding the Regina Farmers’ Market, you will be amazed to even find Prairie Cherries are grown here! Once you have satisfied your taste buds, we invite you to stop at the Letter Box Art Gallery to see what gems lie within; that is if you are not tempted by the scrumptious desserts found at the Brickhouse.

HUTTERITES

Throughout the province of Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan live the Hutterites. The people living in these colonies belonging to the largest, oldest, and most successful communal societies in the Western World. Named after Jakob Hutter, an Anabaptist leader during the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century Austria and Moravia, Hutterites are one of the four surviving Anabaptist groups- the others are the Mennonites, the Amish and the Brethren of Christ. The Hutterite people have embraced the finest technology for the well being of the community. They open their lives to us and share their unique lifestyle, their knowledge, their love of the land and their faith.

Hutterite Colony visits are not offered on Sundays.
